While cutting costs on upgrades and other miscellaneous things can be great for staying within budget when moving into a new or used home, one thing you should not try to cut corners on is your home inspection. Whether you’re moving into a sparkling new home or a fixer-upper, getting an inspection should be top priority. Inspections can reveal things you might not have been anticipating on spending your savings on, like a new roof, electrical wiring, or bad plumbing, which could end up costing you a fortune. According to Bill Loden, President of the American Society of Home Inspectors, 10 percent of newly bought homes did not receive an inspection, something that many experts claim is a huge mistake. The average inspection costs around $450 and usually takes 2 to 4 hours. These 2 to 4 hours are used to check for defective issues within the home which can be flagged and then you can decide if the home is worth investing on depending on the severity of the problem. Making the small investment of only $450 to have peace of mind equates to more money in your pocket down the road. Imagine discovering expensive problems after you sign the dotted line. That is a headache that can be avoided buy hiring professionals.
The days of white walls and beige furniture is over as people are becoming less frightened by integrating color into their homes. Even a minimalist can add splashes of color with table vases and throw pillows. If you’re already fan of color, you can paint your walls in shades of blue or green for some extra added fun! Check out some of colorful inspiring rooms below and think of ways you too can change up your interior decorating.
